Writing

As of right now first graders are learning how to set up the writing area, how to launch Writer's Workshop, and how to create writing spots. To start the writing process we are choosing a "Friend of the Day." That person shares a little about themselves and when finished each person in the class writes one thing they learned about our friend. Students then draw a picture to match their words. After everyone is finished I create a cover for the "Friend of the Day" and that person then takes their book him to share with his/her family. Everyone seems to really enjoy this activity and it helps build a positive classroom community.Pictures are soon to come!!!!
